Cube's New Girl Group (G)I-DLE Talks About Their Gratitude Toward Role Model HyunA And Names Their Goals

(G)I-DLE made their debut on May 2 as Cube Entertainment’s new girl group!

At a showcase on the day of their debut, the group members were asked about their role models. Jeon Soyeon named BIGBANG as the artists who inspired her to become an idol, while two of her group members talked about HyunA’s influence on their lives.

Yuqi said, “Since I was young, I dreamt of being a singer while watching HyunA’s performances. I want to be a cute and sexy singer like HyunA.”

Shuhua also picked HyunA as her role model. Shuhua has liked to dance since she was little, and she said, “I liked dancing together with my friends, but I really got hooked when I saw HyunA’s performances. I want to perform together with her.”

The host of their showcase asked if their labelmate HyunA has had any advice for them. Jeon Soyeon replied, “HyunA came down to our practice room once to see us dance. She gave us a lot of support then and said good things, so we were really grateful.”

The group was also asked what their goals are for their debut with their mini album “I Am.” Jeon Soyeon said, “Our first goal is to raise awareness about us. If we were to be ambitious, it would be great if we could win a rookie award.”

(G)I-DLE debuted on May 2 with their title track “LATATA,” which was co-composed by Jeon Soyeon.
