Jun So Min And Yang Se Chan Share Thoughts And Memories One Year After Joining

Jun So Min and Yang Se Chan talked about their past year as new members of SBS’s “Running Man.”

They filmed their first episode on April 3, 2017 and recently celebrated their one year anniversary with a ‘Running Man 365 MT’ race. Following their addition to the cast, the show saw an increase in viewership ratings and has maintained the No. 1 spot in its timeslot. The show also achieved more than 10 percent in the highest viewership ratings per minute and is enjoying a revival in popularity.

Jun So Min said, “I’m really feeling that many people are loving ‘Running Man.’ Many acquaintances say that they’re enjoying watching it and cheer for me, and more than anything, I feel that my fan base has become more diverse. I’m really grateful that people are enjoying watching it.”

Yang Se Chan stated, “I didn’t know that a year would fly by this quickly. It feels new and cool that I’m still doing ‘Running Man.'” He also elaborated on how his life changed after joining the show. He added, “After joining ‘Running Man,’ I went to Hong Kong and was surprised that the airport employees recognized me. Kids in my neighborhood recognized me and came to my house, and I was interviewed by students of an elementary school broadcasting class.”

They also discussed how they view the show differently now as a member versus in the past when they were viewers. Jun So Min said, “When I watched it on TV, I enjoyed watching it. But on set, I feel the hard work of the staff on set. The camera operators are especially amazing. When I run or there’s a sudden a situation, they don’t put down the camera and are always with me. I also felt that behind the passionate set are producing directors and writers who work hard during their weekly meetings.”

Yang Se Chan replied, “Personally, it wasn’t easy for me to join the teamwork of members who had been together for seven years. It was cool that the members knew what the other person was thinking just by looking at their facial expression. Now that I’ve done it for a year, I’ve also become more aware. Especially after being betrayed by Yoo Jae Suk and HaHa several times during the ‘Spiderman Mission,’ I couldn’t not become more aware.”

Jun So Min chose the ‘Horror Labyrinth’ and riding the cable car with Lee Kwang Soo in Indonesia as memorable moments.

Yang Se Chan answered, “I remember everything. The first day of filming really sticks out in my mind. After that, I thought a lot about how to fit in with the members. Yoo Jae Suk said, ‘You need to do it comfortably,’ and gave me lots of advice. There was the ‘Sheriff’ episode where I became a spy for the first time, and I can’t forget about the Nevis Swing. It was the first time in my life where I was that scared. The ‘Horror Labyrinth’ was also scary, but Ji Suk Jin was more scared next to me so I was busy holding him.”

They also spoke about what they learned from each member on the show. Jun So Min said, “I’m envious of Yoo Jae Suk’s great talking abilities, Ji Suk Jin’s endless youth, Kim Jong Kook‘s athletic abilities, HaHa’s wit, Song Ji Hyo‘s beauty, Lee Kwang Soo’s fun statements, and Yang Se Chan’s skit skills and ideas.”

Yang Se Chan answered, “I want to learn Yoo Jae Suk’s hosting abilities and Kim Jong Kook’s loyalty. HaHa is cool in how he gives support from the back. When I text Song Ji Hyo, she takes a week to reply, but she has a lot of love for ‘Running Man.’ I think I should emulate that. I’m really envious of how Lee Kwang Soo can immerse himself in a character. Jun So MIn and I joined the show together and she is my only female friend, but I think it’s amazing that she isn’t afraid to look silly even though she’s an actress.”

In terms of guests they want to invite on the show, Jun So Min chose former co-stars Go Kyung Pyo and Ha Seok Jin. Yang Se Chan named Apink’s Son Naeun, Brown Eyed Girls’ JeA, Jang Do Yeon, Park Na Rae, and Yang Se Hyung.

Jun So Min stated, “Thank you always. These days, I feel like the fun on set is being transferred to viewers so I’m happy. I’ll try to always give you good energy and happiness on Sundays.”

Yang Se Chan stated, “Thank you for cheering us on and loving us for one year. Personally, I haven’t had a big part or become newsworthy, but I’m putting in a lot of effort. I hope you know that I’m working hard. I’ll work hard with the members until ‘Running Man’ steadily achieves two-digit viewership ratings.”

“Running Man” airs on Sundays at 4:50 p.m. KST. Check out the latest episode below!
