MBC Cancels Next 2 Episodes Of "Omniscient" Following Controversy
MBC’s “Omniscient” will not be airing for two weeks due to the controversy that erupted yesterday.
The most recent episode of the show sparked anger among viewers due to the comedic use of news clips from the Sewol Ferry disaster. The production staff and MBC president apologized for the mistake and promised to investigate the issue.
On May 10, MBC issued a public statement, saying, “We have officially set up a committee to launch an investigation, so the May 12 and May 19 episodes of ‘Omniscient’ have been canceled.”
The committee commented, “To prevent further suspicion, the investigation will be carried out from an objective point of view, and the results will be made transparent to all viewers.”
The “Omniscient” recording scheduled for May 11 has been canceled as well.
