Former Girl Group Member Ends Years-Long Hiatus On "King Of Masked Singer"

On the May 13 episode of MBC’s “King of Masked Singer,” another round of singers competed for the chance to challenge the champion.

In Round 1, the contestant “Matryoshka” went up against “Vietnam Girl” with the duet “Just a Feeling” by first-generation idol group S.E.S.

Matryoshka lost the round and took off her mask while singing Kim Yoon Ah’s “One Fine Spring Day.” Her identity turned out to be former Jewelry member, actress, and entertainer Yewon.

She said, “I did a musical last year, but this is my first time singing on air since ‘ToToGa’ three years ago. This is a show that I really wanted to appear on so I was nervous while singing but happy.”

She added, “Right now I’m working on my acting career, but I want to keep showing a brighter image on variety shows. I was happy about the opportunity to come here, but there was a lot of pressure. I’m glad the reaction was good.”
