Jin Ki Joo And Jang Ki Yong Reveal Each Other's Real Personalities As They Star Together In "Come And Hug Me"
At a press conference for their upcoming drama “Come and Hug Me,” stars Jang Ki Yong and Jin Ki Joo talked about taking on their first leading roles and revealed what each other is really like!
In the drama, Jang Ki Yong plays the role of police detective Chae Do Jin (real name Yoon Na Moo), whose father is a psychopathic serial killer. Jin Ki Joo plays actress Han Chae Yi (real name Gil Nak Won), who is the daughter of a victim of the serial killer.
At the May 14 press conference, Jang Ki Yong shared his thoughts on being the lead in a drama for the first time through “Come and Hug Me.” He said, “I’m very grateful that I’ve been given the chance to play a lead role, so I want to do well and do my best. I’m very ambitious about it. I’ll gather strength with the rest of the cast, work hard, and do my best until the end of the drama.”
Jin Ki Joo also talked about her feelings as she takes on her first lead role. “There’s a lot of pressure,” she said. “However at the same time, I’m also enjoying it and am happy.” She said she’s focusing on how happy she feels on set, and promised to work hard until the end.
The two actors also shared how they felt when they first got to read the drama’s script.
“I enjoyed reading the script,” said Jang Ki Yong. “It was really interesting because of the mix of romance and thriller aspects, so I wanted to do it. When I took on the role of Yoon Na Moo and Chae Do Jin, I felt like it was a challenge because it’s a role where he has a great wound from his childhood because of his father, but he’s still enduring. I really wanted to do it.”
Jin Ki Joo commented, “After I first read the script, I couldn’t escape from it for a few days afterwards. I wanted to escape from the script so I read other things, but it didn’t work. My heart hurt when I thought about Na Moo in the story, and I really wanted to become Nak Won who would hug Na Moo. Thankfully I was given the opportunity to become Nak Won like I wanted, so I’m very happy.”
The stars also shared their impressions of each other and their personalities. Jang Ki Yong said, “I saw Jin Ki Joo in JTBC’s ‘Misty’ and I thought she had a cold image. But when I met her in person, she smiled a lot and had a lovely image. I think she’s a great fit for the role of Nak Won in the drama.”
Jin Ki Joo said, “There’s a lot of scenes with the child actors in our drama. Even though there hasn’t been a lot of scenes where we’re together, I think we’re comfortable and doing it well. He’s very mischievous. He seems just like Na Moo, so I’m gratefully living as Nak Won.”
“Come and Hug Me” will premiere on May 16 on MBC, and it will be available on Viki.
