'Come And Hug Me' Premieres To Solid Viewership Ratings

MBC’s new drama “Come and Hug Me” is off to a solid start!

The May 16 premiere of “Come and Hug Me,” which took over the time slot previously occupied by “Hold Me Tight,”managed to score higher viewership ratings than the finale of its predecessor.

According to Nielsen Korea, Episodes 1 and 2 of “Come and Hug Me,” which both aired on May 16, recorded average viewership ratings of 3.1 and 3.9 percent nationwide. By contrast, the final episodes of “Hold Me Tight” scored ratings of 2.8 and 3.8 percent.

KBS 2TV’s “Suits” took first place in the time slot with average ratings of 8.8 percent, while SBS’s “Switch” followed with ratings of 5.1 and 5.6 percent for its two parts.

“Come and Hug Me” tells the story of two star-crossed would-be lovers, Chae Do Jin (played by Jang Ki Yong) and Han Jae Yi (played by Jin Ki Joo), whose lives are tragically intertwined. Despite falling in love with each other during their childhood, the two find themselves torn apart after Chae Do Jin’s father, a psychopathic serial killer, murders Han Jae Yi’s parents.
