Best Of SHINee: 10 Unforgettable Highlights That Marked The Past 10 Years

A whole decade has passed since SHINee made their successful debut, and a lot of heartfelt memories traced the quintet’s rich career throughout the years.

The past few months have been quite overwhelming for SHINee and Shawols due to the heartbreaking loss of late member Jonghyun, who unfortunately left us before being able to commemorate this milestone alongside his members. But in Minho’s, Key’s, Onew’s, and Taemin’s words, his memory lives on in our hearts.

While we have tons of content to reminisce about in celebration of SHINee’s 10th anniversary, here is a selection of some of the most unforgettable highlights that marked the past 10 years.

1. SHINee’s first wins

After their debut on May 25, 2008, the rising group made sure to snatch every major win that can happen in an artist’s career. With an incredible list of achievements amounting in 60 award wins and 86 nominations, plus 57 music show wins, here are some of SHINee’s first victories:

2. SHINee as sweet father figures on “Hello Baby”

One of SHINee’s most touching reality shows is their appearance on “Hello Baby” where they met Yoogeun, the “virtual” son whom they were taking care of during the second season of the show. Together, they shared a lot of heartwarming moments, and this clip of Yoogeun dancing to “Ring Ding Dong” is a scene that will instantly melt your heart.

3. Jonghyun’s moment of triumph

Being a dedicated artist, our poet burst into tears upon “Juliette” earning its first music show win. This important achievement served as an acknowledgement of Jonghyun’s talent since he was credited as a lyricist for the first time. (Starting 5:37)

4. Minho’s “dibidibidis” rap

Minho took the rap world by storm when he introduced SHINee through a fervent freestyle in their early days, following the beat given to him by his members. A few years later, he reenacted the legendary moment on an episode of “Saturday Night Live Korea.”

5. Taemin’s clumsy persona

The sassy maknae often acts silly around his members, and this clumsy incident on KBS’s “Star Date” is just one of many funny moments that happened to be caught on camera. (4:20-4:33)

6. Key’s variety breakout

Staying true to his diva status, Key gave us one more thing to appreciate him for: a full pampering routine. In an episode of “My Little Television,” the charming member wooed us while sharing his hair and makeup cleansing ritual in detail.

7. Onew’s overload of cuteness

Behind the image of SHINee’s leader lies an adamant fake maknae. With his playful aura, it’s hard to believe that Onew is actually the oldest member of the group. The clip below shows exactly how he switches roles in the blink of an eye.

8. SHINee’s solid roots

Going back to where it all started, this specific moment from the “SHINee World IV” concert tour showed us exactly what SHINee is all about. The boys gave an incredibly powerful performance with overflowing emotions, to which fans fervently sang along.

9. SHINee and Shawols’ unbreakable bond

After successfully wrapping their first Tokyo Dome performance, the boys ended the concert with a sentimental talk that moved both the members and the audience to tears. Catch their beautiful words in the video down below.

10. SHINee’s moving tribute to Jonghyun

After the loss of Jonghyun, the boys debated resuming their activities, and ended up deciding to kick off their “SHINee World The Best 2018 ~From Now On” tour which took place in Japan.

During the concert, the members honored the memory of Jonghyun by performing their new Japanese song “From Now On” for the first time, which was one of two songs that they recorded before Jonghyun’s passing. The group shared a stage where an empty microphone stand with a rose that marked Jonghyun’s spot. His respective part was also played during the performance.

It’s been a long journey for SHINee. With their upcoming comeback being just around the corner, the members worked hard to meet their fans again with high quality music. SHINee and Shawols, happy 10th anniversary! Remember, the memory of Jonghyun will always shine through you. To many more happy years together!
