5 Things Only K-Beauty Junkies Understand

Have you ever wondered how the heck K-pop idols have perfect skin? Like, you zoom in and expect to see maybe a pore here or a pimple there, but all you see is porcelain.  Don’t worry – you definitely aren’t alone! Along with K-pop and K-dramas, Korean skincare has been exploding in popularity as of late. In contrast to Western skincare routines, which emphasize eliminating skin problems with harsh scrubs and ointments, Korean skincare emphasizes nurturing your skin. And much like K-pop and K-dramas, once you’re in too deep, there’s no going back! Check out our list of five things only K-Beauty junkies understand.

1. The deal with snails

As gross as it sounds, snail goo is actually packed with nutrients that nourish and moisturize your skin. It’s a key ingredient in many K-skincare products, such as serums and face masks.

2. The infamous 10-step routine is a fake…

Well, sort of. While many Korean skincare routines can be multiple steps (like double-cleansing and applying layers of products), the 10-step routine is a bit of an overkill to do everyday. Often times, K-beauty junkies pick and choose parts of the 10-step routine, and many morning routines are often simpler than night routines. Somedays your skin needs just toner and lotion; other days you need the whole serum-toner-face mask trifecta. It’s about what works for your skin, and for many, being minimal is the way to go!

3. Google translator is your best friend!

K-beauty products are – you guessed it! – labeled in Korean, and it can sometimes be difficult to find out the different ingredients listed on the label. This is where Google translator comes to the rescue! The Asian Beauty sub-reddit is also another great site that many K-skin care junkies rely on to get information about different products and reviews!

4. The shipping fees

All greatness comes with a price, and in K-beauty, it’s the shipping fees. But sometimes, the end result outweighs the cost, and many shipping fees are forgiven for the chance to obtain glorious skin.

5. Leaving the house without sunscreen on is the unforgivable sin.

Moisturizer is a given at this point. It’s sunscreen many people tend to forget. Sunscreen is an absolute must in keeping your skin plump and youthful!
