Ji Suk Jin Is Thrilled To Get Messages From Jin During Radio Show Special To Celebrate BTS Topping Billboard 200

Ji Suk Jin celebrated BTS’s No. 1 on the Billboard 200 by hosting a BTS special on his radio show!

His radio show “2 O’Clock Date with Ji Suk Jin” was what he called a “BTS Special without BTS” on May 29, in which he played BTS songs in celebration of the group’s Billboard 200 achievement. He jokingly told listeners not to misinterpret the title and understand that BTS wouldn’t be taking part because they’re so busy.

In the beginning, Ji Suk Jin mentioned that he’d sent a message to Jin to tell him that he was playing BTS’ songs for an hour and congratulate him on coming in No. 1 on the Billboard top albums chart. However, Jin hadn’t yet read the message.

Ji Suk Jin and BTS’s Jin got to know each other when the group appeared as guests on “Running Man” in 2016, and they bonded over both having the same given name Suk Jin. On a recent episode of the show, Ji Suk Jin proved his friendship with Jin when he called him to invite him on again.

During the radio show, Ji Suk Jin played Jin’s solo track “Awake” as his first song. After it finished, he announced that he’d received a message from Jin. “He said, ‘Thank you. This is all due to the fact that your name is Suk Jin,'” explained Ji Suk Jin with a laugh. “Thank you, Suk Jin. Thank you so much. It’s been over 2 years since I’ve seen your face, but thank you.”

Ji Suk Jin also joked that he wasn’t sure if he should now refer to Jin in a formal way as “hyungnim” instead of informally as a younger friend since Jin is more popular than him.

He went on to play all the tracks of BTS’s new album “Love Yourself: Tear” from beginning to end. He also read out stories from listeners who had some kind of link to BTS, such as using the same bank as them or working with a member’s relative.

While Ji Suk Jin was playing the song “Anpanman,” Jin sent him another message. Ji Suk Jin said, “I got a message from Jin that says ‘I heard a rumor that you’re doing a ‘BTS Special without BTS.” That’s right, Suk Jin. I am. I think ARMY must have told him. Thank you to ARMY, who are my link to BTS.”

BTS made history this week when their album “Love Yourself: Tear” reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first album by a Korean artist to reach the top of the chart.
