PRISTIN V Talks About Audition Experiences At Pledis And Other Agencies, Dorm Life, And More

Three members of PRISTIN V (Nayoung, Kyulkyung, and Rena) made a guest appearance on the June 5 episode of MBC FM4U radio show “Two O’Clock Date With Ji Suk Jin.”

When asked if they have ever auditioned at one of the “big” agencies in the past, Nayoung shared, “I auditioned for JYP and got a call-back after Round 1. But afterwards I didn’t do well and fell out of the ranks. I also auditioned once for SM, but I went off-key and it didn’t go well.”

Rena said, “My first audition was at our current agency [Pledis Entertainment]. For all of ten PRISTIN members, Pledis was our first agency.”

Kyulkyung said, “I was cast on the streets of Shanghai. I didn’t have any interest in K-pop so I thought it was a scam. A lot of people in Shanghai who try to get you to join their company are scammers. I thought this was a scam too and didn’t pay attention, but the caster came to my house and filmed a video before leaving. I was in elementary school, sixth grade. My parents came to South Korea and the agency people showed them around the company before we signed the contract.”

The members then revealed what they envied most about each other. Nayoung said, “I’m jealous of Rena’s energy.” Rena replied, “Honestly, my stamina comes and goes. I’m jealous of everyone’s height and long legs.” Kyulkyung shared, “I’m jealous of Nayoung’s figure.”

The girls revealed that PRISTIN splits the rooms into four, four, and two members at the dorm. They picked their rooms through a lottery and have experienced no trouble. Rena said, “Sometimes I sleep in other people’s rooms, it’s not a restrictive system.” Rena and Kyulkyung were picked as the members who had the tidiest habits, while Nayoung was the opposite.

PRISTIN V recently made their sub-unit debut with album “Like a V” and title track “Get It.”
