GFRIEND's Agency To Take Legal Action Against Malicious Comments

GFRIEND’s agency has announced that it will be taking legal action in order to protect the group against malicious comments and online attacks.

On June 11, Source Music released an official statement declaring that it would be moving forward with a legal response.

The agency wrote: “Hello, this is Source Music. We are making a statement in regards to the malicious posts and comments about GFRIEND that have been spreading online and on social media, which have included the spreading of malicious false rumors, personal attacks, sexual harassment, slander, and defamation of character.

“Through continuous monitoring, we have finished collecting evidence regarding the malicious posts and comments repeatedly posted on portal sites and online communities by certain Internet users with harmful intent towards the GFRIEND members and disregard for the truth, and with law firm Gamwoo as our legal representative, we plan to file a criminal complaint.

“We want to emphasize that this legal response is intended to protect the GFRIEND members’ rights and to show [the public] better promotions in the future, and this measure is being taken against the minority of malicious Internet users who have repeatedly insulted and habitually harassed GFRIEND.

“Furthermore, in order to protect our artists’ basic rights, we will be taking a firm, uncompromising response against both the writers of the [posts and comments] in question and those who have spread them. We plan to continue to take all strong legal measures possible, without negotiation, against any cases of defamation of our artists that should arise in the future.”

The agency then asked GFRIEND’s fans to report any witnessed instances of such activity, promising, “Source Music will continue to do our utmost to protect our artists’ rights in the future. Thank you.”
