Soyou Talks About Her Trainee Years And Comments On Starship Trainees On "Produce 48"

Soyou spoke about her personal experience as a trainee on Mnet’s “Produce 48.”

On June 15, Soyou appeared as one of the show’s newest vocal trainers.

The singer was noted for the way she spoke softly to the contestants and comforted them. In a meeting with the producers before the show, she had explained, “I started training when I was 17 years old. I know what trainees worry about.”

Thinking back to those years, she added, “I couldn’t see my skills improving and I felt so hopeless.”

During the ranking evaluation, three trainees from her agency Starship Entertainment — Ahn Yoojin, Jang Wonyoung, and Cho Kahyun — stepped onto the stage.

Before the show, the staff had asked Soyou, “Let’s say trainees from Starship came out, but they weren’t that good. What are you going to do?”

Soyou answered, “I’ll probably say more things. They’re the face of our agency.”

With their performance of Little Mix’s “Wings,” all three Starship Entertainment trainees earned a “B” ranking.
