Producing director (PD) Jo Soo Won spoke about how hard he worked to cast Yang Se Jong in the upcoming SBS drama “30 but 17.”

The PD spoke at a press conference for the drama that was held on July 2 at the SBS Broadcasting Center in Seoul.

Jo Soo Won said, “In the case of Yang Se Jong, I put in a lot of effort. He was the most popular actor when I was preparing this drama, and now that we’re filming, I think he’s a good match. I have a feeling that the two actors [Yang Se Jong and Shin Hye Sun] will be able to show fun sides that they haven’t been able to show before.”

On his casting efforts, the PD explained, “It was a situation where all of the broadcasting companies were sending offers to Yang Se Jong. I meant that I put in more effort in that situation. The point where I hesitated was that the female character led the title and story. In Yang Se Jong’s perspective, I thought that he might want to lead his own story, so I persuaded him even more.”

“30 but 17” will tell the story of a woman who fell into a coma at 17 years old and wakes up when she’s 30, and a man who wants to be cut off from the rest of the world. It’s a romantic comedy about 30-year-olds who love like they’re 17.

It’ll be directed by PD Jo Soo Won of “I Hear Your Voice” and written by Jo Sung Hee of “She Was Pretty.”

“30 but 17” will premiere on July 23 and will be available on Viki! In the meantime, check out the first teasers here.
