FTISLAND's Lee Hong Ki And Soyou Talk About Why They Immediately Wanted To Appear In

FTISLAND’s Lee Hong Ki and Soyou talked about why they wanted to appear on “Road to Ithaca.”

Upcoming variety show “Road to Ithaca” recently held a press conference, with cast members Yoon Do Hyun, Gukkasten’s Ha Hyun Woo, Soyou, Lee Hong Ki, and comedian Kim Joon Hyun as well as producing-director Min Chul Ki in attendance.

In the music variety show, singers upload videos of themselves singing onto social media. The view counts of those videos determines the budget they are given as they travel from Turkey to Ithaca, Greece.

During the press conference, Soyou began by saying, “We filmed really hard. I hope it becomes a program that will give people’s eyes and ears luxury and comfort.” Ha Hyun Woo laughed and showed his affection for his cast members saying, “I gained a lot through this trip. First and foremost, I gained Lee Hong Ki and then everything else.” Lee Hong Ki commented, “I was the head of promotional marketing. It was a happy time with the other guys and Soyou.”

Lee Hong Ki then talked about why he decided to join the show. He explained, “First of all, I get to work with great seniors, since I also do rock music. Through this program, I was able to get the opportunity to work with Yoon Do Hyun and Ha Hyun Woo.” He shared that when he got the offer to appear on the show, he accepted without even a second of hesitation and before even hearing the concept of the show because of the two singers. He added, “Though people know that I’m a singer, I wanted to let more people know that I’m in a band. I also wanted to be acknowledged by Yoon Do Hyun and Ha Hyun Woo.”

Lee Hong Ki continued, “After looking at the concept, I realized that I had some strengths where the two of them had weaknesses. In certain areas like uploading our videos on social media, or promoting them, I thought, ‘This is me.'” He added, “Also, when I arrived, they were pretty exhausted. So I thought as the youngest guy of the group, I should give them some energy.”

Soyou was then asked if she had also helped out with the social media aspect of the show. She answered, “To be honest, I don’t think I’m that good at social media. Compared to other people my age, I don’t really know the different functions and such. But I was still a little better than some of the guys, so I did promote here and there. But I’m not sure if I was much help, so I want to check the broadcast to see if I was.”

When asked what viewers should look out for when watching the show, Soyou replied, “When I got the offer for ‘Road to Ithaca,’ after seeing Ha Hyun Woo and Yoon Do Hyun’s names, I immediately said I wanted to do it. I think viewers should look out for my collaborations with them, and the different genres we do, as well as the way that our voices fit with the scenery of the places we go to.”

“Road to Ithaca” will air its first episode on July 15 at 6:10 p.m. KST.
