"My Ugly Duckling" Responds To Reports That The Show Was Plagiarized In China
“My Ugly Duckling” has issued a formal response to the controversy over a Chinese show with a similar format.
On July 13, a source from the SBS variety show stated to Ilgan Sports, “We have received the reports that a Chinese show has plagiarized our format and are currently in the process of checking them. First of all, we have never officially exported our format to China. We will have to check with the variety department and the Chinese broadcaster before we decide what to do. We are not yet at the stage that earlier reports have claimed.”
Earlier reports had alleged that the show “我家那小子 – My Little One,” launched by China’s Hunan Television network, had copied the format of “My Ugly Duckling” and claimed that a source from the Korean show had stated the Chinese show had copied them without due notice.
