Watch: Super Junior’s Eunhyuk Hilariously Reinterprets SHINee’s Taemin’s “Danger”
During the July 14 broadcast of the JTBC program, Eunhyuk opened up about his past experience working with Kang Ho Dong on variety shows like “Strong Heart” and “Star King.” The idol revealed that he had felt pressured whenever a funny guest like 2AM’s Jo Kwon would put on a comic dance performance and Kang Ho Dong would follow by suddenly prompting Eunhyuk to dance next, without any kind of preparation or warning.
Eunhyuk explained that the pressure came from Kang Ho Dong dramatically hyping him up to a burdensome extent. He recalled, “At the very end, [Kang Ho Dong] would say, ‘Everyone, you’ve waited a long time… you’ve seen everyone else… but we have Eunhyuk!’ There’d be no preparation. Whenever he said those words, I simply had to come out and start dancing.”
SHINee’s Taemin cut in with a laugh, “I think that’s still better than what we [SHINee] went through. When we were on ‘Star King,’ [Kang Ho Dong] would make us attempt the things that the ‘Star Kings’ [the performers on the talent show] were doing!”
Kang Ho Dong jokingly responded, “The fact that Eunhyuk is telling this story means that he’s ready to dance.” As Eunhyuk attempted to protest, Kang Ho Dong asked Taemin to demonstrate a normal dance, insisting that Eunhyuk would immediately come up with a reinterpretation of it on the spot. Taemin then performed part of his choreography for his solo debut track “Danger,” as Eunhyuk solemnly observed from the sidelines.
Despite all his protests, Eunhyuk managed to improvise an entertaining reinterpretation of the song, just as Kang Ho Dong had hoped. Playing off the song’s literal Korean title “Thief” and the lyrics “I’ll steal, steal, steal, steal you,” Eunhyuk cracked up the cast with his unique performance.
