Running Man” recently had quite the episode with guest appearances by “Mission: Imposible – Fallout” stars Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, and Simon Pegg. The episode was a great success, with the three Hollywood actors taking on a variety of games and having fun with the “Running Man” cast.

Jung Cheol Min, the producing director (PD) of the variety show shared an inside look to how the collaboration was possible. He began by stating, “We knew that the cast would be flying in to Korea to promote ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ so we contacted them beforehand to get them on the show. They stated that they had been thinking of making an appearance on a Korean variety show, so it was made possible because both sides wanted it to happen.”

The film’s cast were on a tight schedule, so “Running Man” didn’t have a lot of time with them. The variety show’s cast and crew were given approximately an hour to complete all of their interviews and game segments. On how they chose which games to play, the PD explained, “We prepared a list of games, and went over potential options with the actors’ agencies and the production company. Overseas variety shows are a little different from Korean ones, and we had to rule out any game that required a lot of physical activity and exertion. The games that were chosen were ones that both parties deemed okay.”

Jung Cheol Min revealed that the three actors were especially interested in the game where they had to guess what was inside the steel delivery container. He said, “They were very open to trying everything and they enjoyed themselves a lot. They said that they’d never seen such a game before and it was very refreshing for them.” He also shared that for the game where the cast had to put their hands in a box and guess what was inside, the “Running Man” staff avoided anything alive, and all items were approved beforehand.

Finally, the PD picked Simon Pegg as the actor who fit variety shows the best and explained, “He’s really great at bringing the laughs, most likely because he’s starred in comedic films. He was full of mischief the whole day and had a lot of fun.” Finally, PD Jung Cheol Min concluded his interview by stating, “I am happy with how the episode turned out, especially considering the limited time we had with the cast.”
