Ji Hansol Talks About Being A Former SM Trainee + Newkidd Shares Thoughts On Blond Concept

Rookie boy group Newkidd recently sat down for an interview to introduce themselves and talk about their debut.

The group includes Ji Hansol, who gained popularity through his appearance on KBS’s “The Unit.” He is currently promoting with the group from that show, UNB, but announced earlier this month that he was taking a break due to injury.

When asked how they came to debut with Newkidd, Jinkwon said, “My role models are EXO. I saw the reality program ‘EXO Showtime’ and dreamed of becoming a singer and went to audition.” Hwi mentioned another SM artist, BoA, as his role model, and Ji Hansol shared his love for TVXQ.

The interviewer then mentioned that Ji Hansol used to be a trainee under SM Entertainment. “I don’t regret the fact that I didn’t debut there, but I do regret that I wasn’t able to debut with the friends I trained with,” Ji Hansol replied. “However, I’m happy now with the members of Newkidd.”

Newkidd also talked about their interesting debut concept, which involved the members all dyeing their hair blond. Jinkwon said, “Instead of showcasing each member individually, we wanted to show that Newkidd was a team. We wanted a bright, healthy image to come across powerfully and decided to dye everyone’s hair blond. However, we are revealing each member one at a time for our preview album, so each member has a chance to show their merits.”
