3 Things To Look Forward To Once "Familiar Wife" Premieres
The premiere date of the highly-anticipated tvN drama “Familiar Wife” is almost here!
“Familiar Wife” is a love story about how one decision can change a person’s destiny forever. The sentimental yet relatable romantic comedy stars Ji Sung as Cha Joo Hyuk, a man who gets pushed around by his wife at home and pushed around by his boss at work, and Han Ji Min as Seo Woo Jin, a weary working mother and Cha Joo Hyuk’s wife of five years.
Three key points that viewers can anticipate from the drama have been revealed.
1. Han Ji Min and Ji Sung’s synergy
The combination of Ji Sung, an actor who has never disappointed viewers’ expectations, and “lovely goddess” Han Ji Min was enough to imbue anticipation and excitement for the drama. Ji Sung shows a new side of himself by acting as Cha Joo Hyuk, the pitiful head of the household, and Han Ji Min aims to relate with viewers as she makes the greatest transformation since her debut as Seo Woo Jin, a working mother.
Their perfect synergy as a realistic couple of five years has been a key point for fans anticipating the drama. Director Lee Sang Yeob stated, “Ji Sung and Han Ji Min act with amazing chemistry as they portray an everyday couple’s lifestyle. They don’t let even the tiniest of stares or the sounds of breathing slide by, and they draw out the detailed emotions.”
Ji Sung adds onto the reality and depth of average guy Cha Joo Hyuk, raising the relatable factor, and Han Ji Min perfectly infuses herself as Seo Woo Jin, a bright and tough woman who transforms into a rough housewife after being worn out by the harsh realities of life.
Ji Sung and Han Ji Min’s romantic chemistry will be a point of excitement and relatability for viewers.
2. The dream team of director Lee Sang Yeob and scriptwriter Yang Hee Seung
The reason for the rising excitement surrounding “Familiar Wife” can be found in the perfect combination of the “loco” dream team that includes the actors, directors, and scriptwriters. The drama is a collaborative effort of director Lee Sang Yeob, who directed “Shopping King Louie,” and scriptwriter Yang Hee Seung, who wrote “King of High School,” “Oh My Ghostess,” and “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.” These two people’s strong suits are warm, sentimental romantic comedies full of humanism.
Although they once loved intensely, Cha Joo Hyuk and Seo Woo Jin’s passions dull in the face of reality. Through this, director Lee Sang Yeob and scriptwriter Yang Hee Seung evoke sympathy from the viewers. They also perfected a unique romance never seen before that explores the “what if” thoughts that everyone has at some point.
Director Lee Sang Yeob stated, “This is a romance that follows the development of people exhausted by life. I’d like if people could find the many faces of love they’ve forgotten about again through the lives of Cha Joo Hyuk, who dreams of turning his life around, and Seo Woo Jin.”
Scriptwriter Yang Hee Seung also explained, “I wanted to bring up the question of what is needed for a long relationship through a unique interpretation of the romance that many fantasize about.”
3. An office comedy that will raise the fun factor
The heart-throbbing romance between Ji Sung and Han Ji Min, along with the hyper-real office comedy that occurs at the bank will raise the fun factor of “Familiar Wife.” Ji Sung will realistically portray the office life of bank tellers who must deal with voice phishing scams, bossy customers, and a variety of issues. Kim Hwan (VIXX’s N), an individualist rookie employee with an impressive resume, Cha Bong Hee (Son Jong Hak), a clueless branch manager, Byun Seong Woo (Park Won Sang), a dark meritocrat, Jang Man Ok (Kim Soo Jin), the highly-educated, unmarried team leader, and Choi Hye Jung (Gong Min Jung) and Joo Hyang Sook (Kim So Ra), the receptionist team duo who share all information will make up the diverse characters of “Familiar Wife.”
These seasoned actors will add onto the perfect reality of the drama.
“Familiar Wife,” which premieres on August 1, will take over the time slot previously occupied by “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” at 9:30 p.m. KST. The drama will be available with English subtitles on Viki.
