Red Velvet’s Joy Talks About Juggling “Bad Boy” Concept At Same Time As Her Drama “Tempted”
On the latest episode of “Ask Us Anything,” Red Velvet’s Joy talked about her experience switching back and forth between two completely different images.
During the August 4 broadcast of the JTBC variety show, Joy revealed that she had gone to great lengths in order to get into character for her starring role in MBC’s “Tempted.” In the drama, which aired earlier this year, the idol-turned-actress played the role of the innocent and naive Eun Tae Hee—a character that contrasted sharply with Red Velvet’s concept at the time.
Joy explained, “Right up until I started filming the drama, I had been promoting ‘Peek-A-Boo‘ and ‘Bad Boy.’ Our image for [those comebacks] was cold, sharp, and fierce. So in order to change that image, I didn’t go out to party or have fun. I changed my entire lifestyle pattern to match my character.”
She went on, “I also thought that I should somewhat change my look in order to fit the role better. So I changed the shape of my eyebrows. When I needed a strong image on stage, I went with a sharp arch, and since I had a kind image in my drama, I drew them in a straight line [for filming].”
