Watch: MAMAMOO Hilariously Tackles Dance And ASMR Challenges On "Idol Room"

MAMAMOO appeared on the August 7 broadcast of JTBC’s “Idol Room,” putting their unique, relaxed brand of variety charm on full display.

On the show, the group “auditioned” a theme song for “Idol Room.” MAMAMOO had previously sung a theme song for JTBC, and Jung Hyung Don said if he and Defconn liked MAMAMOO’s rendition with new lyrics for “Idol Room,” they would consider using it as their new official song.

After MAMAMOO performed the song however, Jung Hyung Don proceeded to tease the MAMAMOO members, saying that they’re just going to stick with Hui’s song. He said, “We found out from MAMAMOO today that it’s not easy to sing in the morning. We ask that you only do [singing] events after four in the afternoon.”

The MCs then asked Hwasa about the mokbang wave that she started in Korea starting with her appearance on “I Live Alone.” She said, “I think it’s because I eat sincerely. There’s no pretense.”

Hwasa said she even received a plaque of appreciation from associations for gopchang (beef intestine) and fried seaweed and sticky rice, for boosting sales of the food. On what she’s into lately, Hwasa said she’s been cooking a lot of cuttlefish.

MAMAMOO then took part in a special ASMR mokbang challenge, in which the members had to eat all of the food in front of them without exceeding 60 decibels. The MCs said the prize would be a coffee truck for MAMAMOO’s fans.

The MAMAMOO members did their best, but the crunchy food was just too loud. When Moonbyul tried to melt the fried seaweed and sticky rice before eating it, the rest of the MAMAMOO members and the MCs were near in tears trying to hold in their laughter.

The group then took on some of Idol Room’s signature dance challenges, including the nano dance challenge, in which the members do a relay of the most memorable part of their newest choreography, and the “at attention” dance, in which the members must dance with their arms straight at their sides.

When the hosts brought up Moonbyul’s comment from “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” where she said that MAMAMOO has no bounds, and can do any concept from sweet to sexy, MAMAMOO cringed in their seats. But they acknowledged that they can be sexy, and said that each member has her own style: girl crush sexy for Moonbyul, fatally sexy for Hwasa, cute sexy for Wheein, and just sexy for Solar.
