Exciting But Stressful Thoughts We All Have Before College, As Told By K-Pop GIFS
First and foremost, congratulations on making it to college! You worked hard to get where you are now, but there’s still a long journey ahead.
If you’re feeling frazzled about this new start as summer is winding down, have no fear! You’re definitely not the only one.
First off, that application process is no joke!
You struggled to fill out those ridiculously extensive applications, wrote personal statements, and got those recommendation letters:
There’s no backing out now!
You stressed and agonized over every detail, which may or may not have driven you absolutely insane:
Then after anxiously waiting a for several months, you were shocked to see you finally got in!
Congrats! Though you spent most of high school like this, you made it regardless:
Now that you’ll be out of your parents’ house, you can finally fangirl (or fanboy!) with complete and utter freedom, bless up.
But you’re also scared because you’ll be an “adult” and ignoring responsibilities has consequences.
You don’t want to drop out because you were, um, distracted.
Now that you’ve started thinking about it, suddenly everything is overwhelming.
What’s the deal with the living situation?
First off, living with a roommate sounds terrifying, especially if they’re a total stranger. So you’re scrambling to find a semi-normal person online in an effort to avoid weirdos. Weirdo exhibit A:
Hopefully, you become close with the people you live with!
College is a place where you can make lifelong friends, after all. If you’re close enough with someone to do a casual butt touch, they’re a keeper.
Even if you feel like the odd one out, try your best to have fun with your roommate(s) anyway!
But if you’re lucky enough to land yourself a coveted single room, you’re totally in the clear!
Shopping for your new dorm is…a process.
Going dorm shopping can be fun yet overwhelming. What’s even appropriate to get? Do you need to bring your entire K-pop album collection? How do you find your way out of Ikea once you’ve inevitably gotten lost? So many questions, so little answers.
Saying farewell to friends from high school will be tough.
The reality of you and your friends going your separate ways becomes very real, but you’ll promise to see each other again soon! Try not to cry too much.
Then you have to consider the most important thing: food.
What if the dining halls are bad? Eating literally keeps you alive, so a school’s cafeteria is a measure of its character. You could look like this every day:
Or you could become entirely dependent on instant ramyun and snacks to survive, much to your chagrin:
Crying over generic brand tortilla chips is a complete college mood, trust.
But you’re also pretty excited for college life, TBH
College means freedom, and lots of it! If you want, you can cruise to class like so:
Since you’re a quote-unquote adult, nobody will yell at you for it! (Unless you crash…)
There will be a bunch of parties with people looking like this:
Whereas you might be looking like this:
Or like this:
When socializing with the peasants isn’t worth your time.
College is what you make of it, so have fun in your own way!
One last thing:
Despite all the new challenges that suddenly exist in your life, preparing for a new start can be a lot of fun. Before you head off to orientation, just take a deep breath and brush off those worries. You got this.
