Ku Hye Sun Discusses Her Inspirations As A Director And Her Path To Being An Actress
During an interview on Naver V Live about her upcoming movie “Deep Sleep,” Ku Hye Sun shared her inspirations as a director and career as an actress.
Ku Hye Sun recently participated in the 14th Jecheon International Film & Music Festival with “Deep Sleep,” which she directed herself. She commented, “I think I always came to Jecheon often, as if it was my home. This year I’m excited I came with a production.”
The actress added, “I’m a bit worried [about my movie being released to the public]. Because it is an experimental movie, I’m worried because there may be a misunderstanding that there’s something wrong with the video. I do want to show it quickly as well.”
When asked what she gets inspired by, the actress-director paused before answering, “It’s different every time, but it seems to come from something I love. It could be people, nature, and work. I also get a lot of inspiration from separation and death.” Her newest film “Deep Sleep” was based on the insomnia that Ku Hye Sun experienced.
Ku Hye Sun was questioned whether she faced hardships while creating her production, and she replied, “I never faced hardships while creating, but rather I created because I was facing hardships.” She added, “I think the biggest compliment would be if someone told me they listened well or slept well after watching my movie.”
The actress also candidly talked about how she started acting, saying, “I became an actress coincidentally. This may be offensive to aspiring actors, but I didn’t always want to walk on this path.” She then shared, “At one point, I was confused whether I became an actress to direct or whether I became a director to act, but I think everything from being an actor to creating music has influenced me a lot.”
