Kim Sung Cheol Talks About Working With DIA's Jung Chaeyeon While Filming "to. Jenny"
Kim Sung Cheol recently sat down for an interview to share what it was like to work with DIA’s Jung Chaeyeon.
Through KBS2’s latest drama “to. Jenny,” Kim Sung Cheol showed a different side of him as an actor. He was able to play a fierce outlaw in a previous work, but transformed into a soft nerd like Park Jung Min’s character. In response to his performance with Jung Chaeyeon and their love line, he commented that their chemistry was great.
The music drama “to. Jenny,” which aired in July, is a story about a young musician who finally meets his crush from 10 years ago. Kim Sung Cheol played the role of Park Jung Min, while Jung Chaeyeon played the role of Kwon Na Ra. The two put on a lovely performance as a couple, which caught the attention of many viewers.
When talking about working with Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Sung Cheol remarked, “I had a great time working with her. Of course, I was a little upset when we were in the same shot since she is so attractive. Her acting is stable and she is so receptive.”
Since she is originally a member of DIA, Jung Chaeyeon has the reputation of her being an idol tagged to her acting career. Kim Sung Cheol responded, “Idols who turn to acting are great actors. However, they lack confidence because of their origin and the public’s attention. They need to be encouraged. I tried to play that role for her. I told her positive things and shared things I’ve learned. I wanted to be that support.”
The kiss scene between the two actors garnered a lot of attention when it aired. Reminiscing on the scene, Kim Sung Cheol said, “Since it could be a lot for her, I tried to be goofy to lighten the mood. I joked and said let’s get the lip smashing over with. It was just acting anyway.”
Viewers who watched the drama had to have been impressed by Kim Sung Cheol as an actor. Not only because of his acting, but also because of his singing. His voice, which rivals that of any singer, only added to the quality of the music drama.
Kim Sung Cheol, however, talked about how he wished he had more time when it came to his singing. He commented, “Pertaining to the role and even the tracks, I felt like I could have done better.”
