"Familiar Wife" Breaks Its Own Ratings Record As Ji Sung And Han Ji Min's Love Triangle Heats Up

Once again, tvN’s “Familiar Wife” has achieved its highest viewership ratings yet!

Ever since its premiere on August 1, the drama has been attracting more and more viewers with each new episode. According to Nielsen Korea, the August 16 broadcast of “Familiar Wife” set a new personal record for the drama, scoring average ratings of 7.3 percent nationwide and a peak of 8.6 percent.

Not only did the drama take first place in its time slot across all channels, including public broadcast networks, but it also scored its highest ratings yet among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49. The latest episode enjoyed average ratings of 5 percent and a peak of 6.2 percent.

On the August 16 episode of “Familiar Wife,” Cha Joo Hyuk (played by Ji Sung) struggled to come to terms with the fact that, after traveling back in time and changing his actions in the past, he is no longer married to Seo Woo Jin (played by Han Ji Min)—and therefore can’t stop her from dating other people in his new timeline.

As Yoon Jong Hoo (played by Jang Seung Jo) became even more aggressive in pursuing Seo Woo Jin and displaying his romantic feelings for her, Cha Joo Hyuk couldn’t help becoming uncontrollably jealous and doing everything in his power to stop them from getting together.

While attempting to interfere, he eventually came to realize that Seo Woo Jin had been hiding emotional struggles of her own during their marriage in his original timeline. Having mistakenly believed that he was the only one going through difficult times, he was forced to take another look back at the past and feel guilty for not having recognized his wife’s sadness sooner.
