GFRIEND's Umji And ASTRO's Sanha Reveal How They Became Idols

GFRIEND’s Umji and ASTRO’s Sanha recently shared their stories of how they became trainees on SBS MTV’s “YoGoBaLa”!

On the August 19 episode of “YoGoBaLa,” Umji and Sanha gave some advice to teens dreaming of becoming idols.

Umji first stated, “To be honest, I didn’t have any specific dreams, but after gaining an interest in stage production and management in middle school, I wanted to enter a performing arts high school. On the day of my high school’s orientation, I was casted by my company in front of the school. After being casted, I did an audition.”

She explained that it was after becoming a trainee that she began to officially dream of becoming an idol. She remarked, “After that, I practiced extremely hard with a goal of making my debut, and eventually debuting in GFRIEND.”

Afterwards, Sanha relayed his own experience as he said, “When I was in the fifth grade, I saw my father playing the guitar at home and thought he looked cool, so I began to dream of wanting to do music then. I attended a music academy in the sixth grade and auditioned at that academy. By fate, I was accepted, and I met the [ASTRO] members and practiced hard to get to this place.”

“YoGoBaLa” airs every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. KST.
