CJ ENM To Introduce New Program For Animation Creators

CJ ENM is creating a new program aimed at improving the animation industry in Korea.

On August 20, CJ ENM announced that it will help enhance the production of animation in Korea by introducing a new program called A:lab.

A:lab is a one-stop partnership project that runs all year round. It will be involved in all steps of the process from development of animation projects, investing in new projects, marketing, and business.

Creators and groups selected through A:lab will receive operating expenses and personnel expenses to fund their projects from eight months to two years while developing and producing new animation.

Creators can also get an opportunity to upgrade their work by being paired up with experienced writers, animators, and producing directors in Korea.

The produced work can also be supplemented using the monitoring system of CJ ENM’s resources and international partnership network such as Tooniverse TV and YouTube during the course of its production.

CJ ENM will be responsible for the funding, marketing, and business aspects of the project so that creators and groups can focus on the creative parts of the animation process. The company will also provide support for marketing the creator or the group if they were to participate in famous international festivals.

The director of CJ ENM’s Animation Business Division, Hong Ki Sung, said, “Animation is a genre capable of global expandability, but there has been a lack of content due to the poor production environment. Through A:lab, we will provide an environment for skilled creators to create the best animations and will also cover the business aspects that the existing system did not.”

CJ ENM will hold a seminar on A:lab’s business purposes and operation methods at the Seoul Promotion Plan 2018 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza on August 22 at 2 p.m. KST.
