Chu Ja Hyun, Jo Sung Ha, And More Confirmed To Join Song Joong Ki And Kim Ji Won’s New Drama

Upcoming tvN drama “Asadal” (working title) has finalized its star-studded cast.

“Asadal” is a fantasy period drama that takes place on the fictional land of “Aseu.” It will explore conflict, harmony, and love of the people who live there. Kim Ji Won, Song Joong Ki, Jang Dong Gun, and Kim Ok Bin were previously announced as the leads for this highly anticipated drama.

On August 27, sources from the network and the drama stated that Jo Sung Ha, Choi Moo Sung, Chu Ja Hyun, Park Byung Eun, Yoo Tae Oh, Son Sook, Park Hye Joon, Jung Jae Won, Kim Ye Joon, and Heo Jung will be appearing in “Asadal.”

The cast gathered for the first script reading on August 26 and will begin filming mid-September.

Chu Ja Hyun’s agency BH Entertainment confirmed that she would be making a special appearance in the drama. The actress will appear as Ah Sa Hon, an important character who will introduce the history of the fictional land of “Aseu”.

Jo Sung Ha will portray the character Mi Hol in what will be his third project working with Song Joong Ki. Choi Moo Sung, who currently appears hunter Jang Seung Gu in tvN’s “Mr. Sunshine,” will play the character San Wook. Park Byung Eun, who presently appears in SBS’s “Your Honor,” will join the cast as Dan Byuk.

Yoo Tae Oh’s agency C-JeS Entertainment also confirmed the news to a Korean media outlet. He previously appeared in the Russian film “Summer” and was invited to the 71st Cannes International Film Festival. He also recently joined the cast of the upcoming SBS drama “Vagabond” starring Lee Seung Gi and Suzy.

“Asadal” is co-written by Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon who previously worked together on historical dramas such as “The Great Queen Seon Deok,” “Tree with Deep Roots,” and “Six Flying Dragons.” It will be directed by producing director Kim Won Suk whose works include “Incomplete Life,” “Signal,” and “My Ahjussi.”

“Asadal” is scheduled to premiere in early 2019.
