"Familiar Wife" Achieves Highest Ratings Yet As Ji Sung And Han Ji Min's Romance Heats Up

As the romantic tension on tvN’s “Familiar Wife” finally reached its breaking point, the drama’s viewership ratings soared to new highs as well!

According to Nielsen Korea, the August 30 episode of the drama broke its own viewership record, scoring average ratings of 8.2 percent nationwide and peaking at 9.9 percent. Not only did it achieve its highest nationwide ratings yet, but “Familiar Wife” also enjoyed its highest ratings ever among the target demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49, scoring an average of 5.3 percent and a peak of 6.5 percent.

Additionally, the drama took first place in its time slot across all channels, including public broadcast networks—an impressive feat for a show that airs on a cable network.

On the latest episode of “Familiar Wife,” Cha Joo Hyuk (played by Ji Sung) and Seo Woo Jin (played by Han Ji Min) were unable to contain their feelings for one another any longer. The tension that had enveloped the former couple finally exploded as Seo Woo Jin confessed her feelings and kissed Cha Joo Hyuk in a fit of passion.

The drama’s producers commented, “With [Cha Joo Hyuk and Seo Woo Jin’s] feelings and the change in their relationship exploding in a violent storm, we have reached a turning point [in the drama].”

They added, “Within the narrative that ties together the past and the present, we have slowly built up multi-layered emotions [between the characters], and the fast-paced unfolding of new incidents based on those emotions has immersed viewers in the drama even further.”
