gugudan's Kim Sejeong Tears Up While Talking About Her Mother

On the latest episode of tvN’s “Salty Tour,” gugudan’s Kim Sejeong became unexpectedly emotional during a conversation with comedian Jo Se Ho.

The September 1 broadcast of the reality show followed the “Salty Tour” cast as they explored the Chinese city of Xiamen on a tight budget.

At one point, Kim Sejeong and Jo Se Ho enjoyed a cable car ride together. While admiring the scenic view, Jo Se Ho asked, “Who do you most want to come here with?” Kim Sejeong immediately replied, “My mom. My mom loves nature and mountains.”

Jo Se Ho went on to ask, “Have you ever gone on vacation with your mother, just the two of you?” Kim Sejeong responded, “Yes, but it was just like ‘Salty Tour.'” She explained that they had done their best to scrimp and save throughout the trip, comparing her mother to BIGBANG’s Seungri, who had chosen to sit out certain activities the day before in order to save money for the cast’s budget.

Kim Sejeong recalled, “Like Seungri, my mom would tell me, ‘You go do this or that and come back; I’ll wait here.’ So, to be honest, seeing Seungri [do the same thing yesterday] made me think of my mom.”

She added wistfully, “It’s time for me to start giving [back] to my mom.” When Jo Se Ho told her consolingly, “But you’re doing a great job,” Kim Sejeong replied, “I haven’t done anything for her yet.”

Jo Se Ho said kindly, “You’re being a good daughter just by working hard at your promotions.” Kim Sejeong then began to tear up, remarking with a laugh, “I cry whenever I hear people say things like that. These days, I’ve started crying more often. I don’t know why.” Jo Se Ho replied, “It’s because you’re kind, so you’re grateful for the things you’ve received [from your mother] up until now.”
