H.O.T. Celebrates 22nd Debut Anniversary And Talks About Possibility Of Concert Tour

H.O.T. celebrated their 22nd debut anniversary by looking back at their past and ahead at the future.

On September 7, the five members of H.O.T. gathered for a V Live broadcast. After greeting their fans, they spoke excitedly about their upcoming concert.

It was previously announced that H.O.T. will be holding a concert at the Seoul Olympic Stadium in Jamsil Sports Complex on October 13 and 14. Tony Ahn said, “Today is the day of H.O.T.’s 22nd anniversary. The concert tickets go on sale today. We are saying hello to you via V Live.”

The first generation boy group also showed fans behind-the-scenes footage of them filming for the upcoming concert. Moon Hee Jun said, “In the past, we had a mysterious concept, so we didn’t reveal anything beforehand.” Jang Woo Hyuk added, “That’s right. This would’ve been impossible in the past.”

Tony Ahn agreed by saying, “It was a time where we couldn’t imagine a live broadcast other than music shows.” Lee Jae Won added, “Back then, we communicated through voice message box, but it’s cool that we can communicate through smartphones now. The world is good.”

Jang Woo Hyuk commented, “I think this is the first time we’re together on our debut anniversary [after our disbandment]. I like that we’re together on our anniversary.” Kangta added, “It’s not even the concert yet and we’re just filming the video, but I already feel emotional.”

Moon Hee Jun added, “We’re together after 17 years, but the fans have congratulated us every year. I want to express my feelings of gratitude.” Jang Woo Hyuk commented, “From now on, everything we do is a first. I feel really happy when I think about that.”

H.O.T. also revealed that they were open to the possibility of going on a national tour. When they saw a comment from a fan asking for a national tour, the members replied, “We’ll try Seoul first. Our concert at the Olympic Stadium is coming up. We’ll then have a  serious discussion about what we’ll do after that.”

After singing “Light” (literal title) and dancing to “Warrior’s Descendant” (literal title), H.O.T. concluded the broadcast by opening presents and letters from their fans. The gifts included the H.O.T. Star Calendar from 1997 and letters congratulating the group on their win on “Gayo Top 10.”

H.O.T. debuted under SM Entertainment in 1996 and disbanded in 2001. After 17 years, the first generation idols reunited for a special performance on MBC’s “Infinite Challenge” in February and will hold a concert at Seoul Olympic Stadium on October 13 and 14. Tickets went on sale starting September 7 at 8 p.m. KST.
