Veteran Singer Cho Yong Pil Talks About His Reaction To BTS' Success

On September 11, industry senior and veteran artist Cho Yong Pil sat down for an interview with several reporters.

At the interview, he was asked about BTS, who was able to rise to the top of Billboard’s charts two times with their albums “Love Yourself: Tear” and “Love Yourself: Answer.”

He stated, “I was really surprised when Psy first appeared on the Billboard charts, but BTS is shocking.”

He continued, “During Psy’s [rise], I thought, ‘Will something like this happen again?’ but BTS was able to chart as many as two times. I wondered if this could happen in Korea, but after looking at BTS, I think it’s plenty possible now.”

The singer expressed, “I liked their strategy of using YouTube, and their ideas were very novel. I think the younger kids will definitely be able to have greater ideas in the future. If they continue to have great content, I think greater results are possible as well.”

Cho Yong Pil has been dubbed “nation’s singer,” “top singer,” and other modifiers for his talents.

His 2013 album “Hello,” along with the pre-released track “Bounce” continues to be well-loved by people of all ages for its trendy style and has topped many music charts.
