Watch: Upcoming Idol Debut Survival Show “Under 19” Reveals Teaser, Director, And Contestants
MBC’s upcoming survival show “Under 19” is an audition program to launch a global K-pop boy group with teenage members. The show will select the best contestant out of three categories: rap, vocal, and performance. The celebrity mentors for each category will be called ‘directors,’ which shows that this program is different from other audition programs.
The show released an online teaser on September 4, and revealed that one of the directors for the program will be Crush. He will be the vocal director. Although it is his first time engaging in an audition program, viewers have high expectations for his directing as he is loved by the public for his sentimental singing and unique voice.
The program said that they went through the primary stages of closed auditions for selecting main contestants in August. Sources say that creative applicants from all over the world including Korea, Japan, China, and the United States applied for the show. It is confirmed that a total of 57 contestants will take part in the survival process, with 19 members in each category. The production team stated, “The competition rate was 162 to 1. The directors had a hard time selecting the contestants as there weren’t any big differences between the selected applicants and the ones we didn’t select. So please tune in for our talented contestants!”
“Under 19” will premiere on the first week of November. Check out the teaser video below!
