Im Soo Hyang Talks About Her Age, Acting, And Possible 2nd Season Of 'My ID Is Gangnam Beauty'

Im Soo Hyang recently sat down for an interview following the finale of her drama “My ID is Gangnam Beauty.”

In the show, she played Kang Mi Rae, a girl who undergoes plastic surgery before she enters college. The drama presents a message to society about the effects of valuing appearances and evaluating others’ looks.

During the interview, she talked about her dreams, her character, and a possible second season for “My ID is Gangnam Beauty.”

When asked about her dreams, she answered, “My dream is literally to live happily. No matter how rich and big a star I become, I don’t think it’ll work if I’m not happy. Wouldn’t it be a rather unhappy life? Now, I’m just so happy to act and communicate with people around me. I’m also happy that the viewers are watching me. Usually, I just eat delicious food with my friends and I’m happy to just play with my puppies. Turning on the air conditioner and watching TV while eating watermelons on a really hot day. Isn’t that one of life’s small pleasures?”

Im Soo Hyang then discussed how she wanted to be evaluated as an actor. She stated, “I don’t think there is a happier moment than when I hear the words, ‘You act well.’ Even now, when I’m asked, ‘What type of actor do you want to be?’ I answer, ‘An actor that acts well.’ I think that’s essential. Even with this project, when I heard, ‘Im Soo Hyang is good at acting,’ it really helped me a lot. I thought that I should try harder, and I was very grateful for the support of many young fans who cheered me on through comments online. I also made an effort to communicate [with them].”

The interviewer then commented, “You’ll be in your 30s soon. What do you think your acting life will be like in your 30s?” Im Soo Hyang replied, “It can’t get any deeper than when you’re in your 20s. Of course, I personally don’t make a distinction between people in their 20s and 30s, but it is a one year difference. There are some things that make me realize I’m [getting older], however. Compared to a few years ago, I’ve lost some of my stamina. Additionally, people now call me ‘senior’ on set. I think I realize my age during those moments.”

When asked about what type of senior she wanted to be to her junior actors, she remarked, “I want to be a comfortable senior. Acting is a sum. Whether it’s in dramas or plays, teamwork is important, but if I suddenly try to stand out, the harmony will be broken. [I want to become] a comfortable senior when acting together [with juniors].” She continued, “Since I worked with younger actors on this project, I purposely joked around a lot and worked hard to have fun. Because Eun Woo is very playful, our chemistry was even better.”

Finally, the interviewer brought up the possibility of a second season for “My ID is Gangnam Beauty,” and asked if Im Soo Hyang had any interest in appearing in it. She replied, “Of course. If they really do produce a second season, I definitely want to do it. I think ‘Gangnam Beauty’ will remain as one of my life works. I think this lingering image will continue on for some time.”
