Kim Young Kwang Compares Working With Kim Hee Sun And Park Bo Young

Kim Young Kwang talked about why he chose to star in “Room No. 9,” working with Park Bo Young, Kim Hee Sun, and Kim Hae Sook, and more in a recent interview.

He began the interview by talking about why he had chosen to appear in “Room No. 9.” He explained, “There are a lot of reasons, but I thought that the mysterious story of everything starting in ‘Room No. 9’ was very interesting. I also thought that my character Ki Yoo Jin had a certain charm, as he has a unknowing, secretive side. The fact that I would be able to work with great seniors such as Kim Hee Sun, Kim Hae Sook, Lee Kyung Young, among others, was important as well.”

Kim Young Kwang then compared working with Park Bo Young and Kim Hee Sun. He shared, “Compared to ‘On Your Wedding Day,’ which is a fun, sweet romance, ‘Room No. 9′ is a fantasy revenge drama. That’s why even though Kim Hee Sun and I play a couple with an age gap, I don’t think there’ll be any sweetness or cuteness. We’ve filmed a bit so far, and we play a kind of mysterious couple with an age difference, befitting the characters’ backgrounds. If I showed a cute side to being a same-age couple in ‘On Your Wedding Day,’ I think I’ll show a more mature side to being a couple with an age gap in ‘Room No. 9.'”

When asked about his chemistry with veteran actresses such as Kim Hee Sun and Kim Hae Sook, he commented, “When I act with them, our chemistry is so good that I can’t tell when time is passing. When Kim Hee Sun films, she focuses on acting. But during breaks, she’s a mood-maker. If the staff members or actors are tense, she’ll recognize that first and she’ll take care of them to help them relax.”

He continued, “I’ve worked with Kim Hae Sook on another project, where we played mother and son. Back then as well as now, she is very affectionate towards me, as if I’m her real son. I think that’s why when I go on set, I look for her first. It’s not my first time acting with Kim Hae Sook, but every time I get sucked into her acting. She has such depth in her acting, I think I’m learning a lot by watching her. I’m thankful to ‘Room No. 9’ for many reasons.”
