The cast and crew of the new SBS drama “Heart Surgeons” kept their promise and made a donation to fund heart surgeries for those who can’t afford it.

When asked about making a ratings promise at the press conference, the cast promised to make a donation regardless of the ratings.

On September 28, after the broadcastin of their first episode, the main cast members Go SooSeo Ji HyeUhm Ki Joon, and Kim Ye Won, along with supporting actors Park Kyung Hye and Ryu Hyun, Seo Ji Hye’s agency, writers Choi Soo Jin and Choi Chang Hwan, and SBS, donated a total of 20 million won (approximately $18,000).

The donation was made to Raphael International, an organization that provides medical aid to impoverished people living in developing countries and provides support to local healthcare workers in an effort for better healthcare in the countries. Dr. Kim Woong Han is a dedicated volunteer to the organization and an adviser for the drama.

A crew member commented saying, “Preparing for the drama ‘Heart Surgeons’, we came across a lot of sad stories about people that couldn’t receive proper treatment due to their difficult financial situations and the medical environments. To give practical help is in the hands of the cast and crew. Hopefully this leads to more interest and participation in the issue.”
