Police Request Arrest Warrant For Park Hae Mi's Husband Hwang Min

An arrest warrant has been requested for Park Hae Mi’s husband Hwang Min.

On October 1, a source from the Guri Police Department told Korean media outlet OSEN, “The date for the issuing of Hwang Min’s arrest warrant will be announced later.”

On August 27, Hwang Min was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into two freight trucks parked on the side of the Gangbyeon Expressway in Gyeonggi Province. As a result, two passengers who were members of the Happy Musical Company died. His blood alcohol level at the time was 0.104 percent, which is high enough to have one’s license revoked.

Park Hae Mi halted all activities following the accident and asked for a tough penalty for her husband. A month later on September 28, she returned to the musical “Oh! Carol.” She stated, “I have not yet carried out the ethical responsibilities to those who were hurt from the accident, but I did not forget about it. I will definitely take care of the responsibilities, and once again bow my head to apologize.”

Hwang Min went to the police station without a lawyer, pled guilty to all charges, and said that he would accept all of the punishment. He has currently completed the primary investigation.

Following the issuing of the arrest warrant, there is a high chance that he may receive a prison sentence. Because his drunk driving resulted in the death of others, he will receive a heavy penalty under the Additional Punishment Law on Specific Crimes. It is likely that he will receive at least a one-year jail sentence. Since he has given up his right to defense, a stronger punishment is also possible.
