tvN’s new drama “The Smile Has Left Your Eyes” premiered to solid viewership ratings on Wednesday!

According to Nielsen Korea, the mystery melodrama’s premiere on October 3 scored average ratings of 4.0 percent and a peak of 5.1 percent—strong ratings for a premiere, especially considering that the drama airs on a cable network (viewership ratings for cable network dramas are typically considerably lower than their public broadcast network counterparts’).

“The Smile Has Left Your Eyes” also took first place in its time slot among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49, scoring average ratings of 2.2 percent and a peak of 3.2 percent for the night.

Meanwhile, MBC’s spy drama “Terius Behind Me”—which airs during a different, albeit overlapping, timeslot—scored the highest viewership ratings of any drama that aired on October 3. According to Nielsen Korea, the drama achieved average ratings of 6.7 percent during its first half and 9.1 percent during its second.

SBS’s medical drama “Heart Surgeons,” which airs during the same time slot, scored average ratings of 6.8 percent and 8.5 percent for its two parts, while KBS 2TV’s “The Ghost Detective” recorded average ratings of 2.8 percent and 2.7 percent for the evening.

“The Smile Has Left Your Eyes” is a suspenseful mystery drama that stars Seo In Guk as a dangerous murder suspect and Jung So Min as a woman with a sorrowful past who ends up falling in love with him. The second episode of the drama will air on October 4 at 9:30 p.m. KST.
