Lee Na Young Talks About Making Film Comeback After 6-Year Hiatus

Lee Na Young spoke about her hiatus from acting. On October 4, Lee Na Young attended a press conference for the 23rd Busan International Film Festival’s opening film “Beautiful Days.”

About her first film in six years, she said, “There was a hiatus, if you want to call it that. I continued to always think about acting and always worried about it.”

She continued, “I wanted to appear [in films] and while thinking about what story I could confidently meet the audience with, it took longer than expected. During that time, I saw the script for ‘Beautiful Days’ which I really liked and immediately decided to do.”

She added, “There wasn’t a plan or thought behind it, and I found a script that I liked and wanted to keep doing.”

“Beautiful Days” is about a young man named Jen Chen who goes to Korea to meet his mother for the first time in 14 years. Lee Na Young appears as the mother who is a defector, and Jang Dong Yoon portrays her son Jen Chen. Other actors include Oh Kwang Rok, Lee Yoo Joon, and Seo Hyun Woo.

“Beautiful Days” is the opening film for the 23rd Busan International Film Festival and will premiere in theaters in November.
