Watch: ShaFLA Makes A Snazzy Debut With “DDu-Ru-DDu-PPa-Ra-PPa” MV

ShaFLA made their official debut on October 18 at 12 p.m. KST.

The group is made up of Soohyun, Seulgi, Yoojin, and former Girl’s Day member Jisun. In the music video, the four members scat away to a hybrid Latin pop track as they sing of escaping a repetitive, boring daily routine.

ShaFLA means “sharp and flat,” shortening the black keys on a keyboard. There are five black keys in one octave on a keyboard; the sound made by the keyboard is the most Korean-like sound, while also the most often used scale in foreign music to make things sound sophisticated. The name signifies that the group will make Korean music to communicate abroad in a sophisticated way.
