Lee Seo Jin Opens Up About His Mindset Towards Acting And Roles

With his new film “Intimate Strangers” (literal translation) being released at the end of the month, Lee Seo Jin opened up about his acting life.

The actor debuted in 1999 through the SBS drama “House Above the Waves.” He appeared in many noticeable productions after that, including “Damo,” “Love Forecast,” and “Marriage Contract.” After continuously being on popular variety shows for the past few years, he has finally returned to the big screen for the first time in 13 years.

“Intimate Strangers” is a remake of the 2016 Italian film “Perfect Strangers.” The story revolves around friends playing a game where they must share all incoming messages and calls on their cell phones. Though it starts off lightly, uncomfortable hidden truths start to surface, making them start to feel more like strangers. The lead cast includes Yoo Hae JinJo Jin WoongYum Jung AhYoon Kyung HoKim Ji Soo, and Song Ha Yoon.

Lee Seo Jin talked about the roles he’d like to play in the future, saying, “Roles change as you grow older. I’m not married yet, and I don’t have children, so I feel uncomfortable playing a dad. When I was young, I used to have a strong desire to do a project that was successful or play a good character, but now I’m out of that mindset. Even if I’m not the main character, I want to play various roles and strong roles. I don’t want to do melodrama anymore.”

When asked about his marriage plans, he shared, “I envy my friends when I see them being happy with their kids. But when I go home, I think, ‘It’s so convenient to be alone.’ Well, I don’t have any wedding plans yet.”

Lee Seo Jin is currently filming a 7-episode OCN thriller drama titled “Trap” (literal translation) where he plays anchor Kang Woo Hyun who gets stuck in an unknown trap.
