IU And Lee Joon Gi Praise Each Other's Acting Skills And Reveal An Initial Misunderstanding
Lee Joon Gi and IU spoke about each other’s acting skills on JTBC’s “Ask Us Anything.”
On October 20, the co-stars of “Scarlet Heart: Goryeo” appeared as guests on the variety show. The cast asked, “Do you get this close just after filming one drama together?” and they answered, “It was a pre-produced drama, so we filmed for six months. We traveled all around the country and became close.”
About IU’s acting, Lee Joon Gi said, “IU did such a good job. What I thought was amazing was that she acts while looking at all of it, as if she’s directing it. She prefers it if she can understand the situation before and after a scene. She watches the scenes before and after her’s and analyzes them. She’s like a director. She has a wide perspective like a director.”
“Compared to Lee Joon Gi, I don’t have much acting experience,” said IU. “It was a situation where I had to prepare a lot before going to the set.” She continued, “When I can’t follow the emotions, I ask the director or people around me to help me understand it. I wanted to ask for help because I wanted to [act] as naturally as possible.”
Lee Joon Gi made everyone laugh when he added, “When we weren’t close, I thought that she was just trying to one-up me.”
IU had nothing but good things to say about her co-star as she said, “Lee Joon Gi had a lot of emotional scenes, and all of us would watch him and say that it felt like he was really possessed by the spirit of his character during his scenes.” She added, “For example, when he had to film crying scenes, he could cry while smiling and even turn around and instantly start shedding tears. He doesn’t have to work his way up to an emotion, he can immediately jump into it as soon as cameras start rolling.”
