Park Han Byul In Talks To Play Female Lead In Remake Of Japanese Drama

Park Han Byul may be appearing in a drama again!

On November 3, media outlet Star News reported that the actress was cast as the lead female role in MBC’s upcoming weekend drama “I Love You When I’m Sad” (literal translation).

In response, Park Han Byul’s agency Fly Up Entertainment stated, “She has been offered the role of Yoon Mari. It’s hasn’t been confirmed yet, and we’re in the final stages of working things out.”

“I Love You When I’m Sad” is a melodrama about a woman being chased, a man who chases her, and a man who shelters her. Park Han Byul is in talks to play the role of Yoon Mari, a person who suffers from scars left over from her father’s accident, her mother’s alcoholic dementia, and her husband’s violence.

In a moment of despair, the character later falls in love with On Ji Sung, the director of plastic surgery clinic. Actor Ji Hyun Woo is currently finalizing his schedule to play this role.

“I Love When I’m Sad” is a remake of the 1999 Japanese TBS drama “Beautiful Person” (literal title) by writer Nojima Shinji. After consulting with TBS and purchasing the copyrights, production company DK E&M is preparing to broadcast the drama in February of next year.

If she accepts this role, Park Han Byul will be returning to the small screen after a year and two months since MBC’s “Borg Mom,” which ended last December. The actress also gave birth to a healthy baby boy earlier this year after she announced her pregnancy and marriage in 2017.
