4 Keywords To Look Out For Before Watching 2018 MGA

There’s only one day left until the 2018 MGA (MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards)! There are four keywords to keep in mind before watching the awards.

Global collaboration

The first keyword is global collaboration. 2018 MGA is reported to have prepared performances that nobody has ever seen in other music shows. BTS and Charlie Puth will perform together, and Wanna One will showcase the group’s unit performances. TWICE will also first perform their new album’s title track, “Yes or Yes.” The popular project group Celeb Five will also perform with the original Japanese dance team that inspired the creation of Celeb Five.

K-Pop and 3D augmented reality

The second keyword is the mix of K-pop performances and AR. During the collaboration performance of BTS and Charlie Puth, graphics using AR technology will be used to introduce viewers to the world of virtual reality. The team that created the graphics for the opening ceremony of PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games will also create the graphics for the 2018 MGA.

Strong artist and presenter lineup

Many K-pop artists who are spreading the culture of Korea to the world will appear at the 2018 MGA. Not only K-pop groups such as BTS, TWICE, and Wanna One will appear, but also global stars like Charlie Puth and Japan’s dance and vocal unit group GENERATIONS from EXILE will appear as well.

The presenters for the awards are also worth noticing. The godfather of shows Lee Deok Hwa, singer Lee Seung Chul and Kim Hyun Cheol, model Han Hye Jin, actors Shin Hyun Joon, Kang Han Na, Jo Woo Ri, and comedian Jo Se Ho will appear as presenters. Also, Jun Hyun Moo, who hosts shows like MBC’s “I Live Alone” and “The Manager,” KBS’s “Happy Together,” and JTBC’s “Hidden Singer” will be the main MC for the awards.

Four grand prizes

This is the very first awards ceremony for MGA. Therefore, there is much anticipation regarding who will win the grand prizes. The four grand prizes are “Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Digital Album of the Year,” and “Best Selling Artist of the Year.” The candidates for the prizes are artists such as BTS, Bolbbalgan4, iKON, Epik High, Wanna One, and TWICE.
