8 K-Pop Idols Who Debuted On Short Notice

It takes a great deal of hard work and sacrifice to train in order to debut as a K-pop idol, but for some of these artists, the training period was incredibly brief. However, this doesn’t mean it was any less challenging!

In order of debut, here are eight idols who debuted alongside their group members on such short notice!

Disclaimer: This list only includes idols who trained within a maximum of 6 months and debuted as members of their group’s original line-up under the same agency where they received their very first training.

1. Super Junior’s Ryeowook – Two months (2005)

Ryeowook joined Super Junior just a couple of months before their debut, as his contract identified him as a member rather than a trainee. As stated on an episode of “Kiss The Radio,” he had to record on the same day he signed the paperwork.

2. Yeeun (HA:TFELT) – None (2007)

Former Wonder Girls member Yeeun had one of the fastest K-pop idol debuts. Taking part in the reality show “MTV Wonder Girls,” she was immediately cast by JYP, who was looking for the final member to complete the girl group, thus she entirely skipped the training period.

3. 2AM’s Changmin – Three months (2008)

Although 2AM was formed via a survival show called “Hot Blood Men” alongside their labelmates 2PM, Changmin did not feature in the program because he hadn’t joined JYP Entertainment at the time. In fact, he finished his military service right before his debut, which led to his short-term training period.

4. Apink’s Jung Eun Ji – Two months (2011)

Another idol who had a short-lived training period is Jung Eun Ji. Upon nailing her audition and landing the main vocalist position, she only had a couple of months to get ready for Apink’s debut.

5-6. EXO’s Chen and Baekhyun – Four months (2012)

Chen and Baekhyun were scouted only a few days apart and both were trained for four months before debuting as vocalists with the rest of the EXO members.

7. VIXX’s Hyuk – Three months (2012)

Right before he joined the survival show “MyDOL,” Hyuk had been a trainee for only three months. He eventually joined the final line-up of VIXX!

8. LOONA’s Yves – Three weeks (2017)

Here we have another idol who ultimately debuted in just under a month. Yves surely impressed with her natural talent as a LOONA member and was able to debut after training for only three weeks!
