Watch: EXO's Lay Talks About His Inspiration And Favorite Pokémons

EXO’s Lay featured in MTV News’s “Dive In” to answer some very important questions about his album, inspiration, and top Pokémon picks.

In the interview, he explained in depth about his song, “NAMANANA,” which basically represents a big mood. When asked why he released the song in both English and Mandarin, Lay reasoned that he wanted to get closer to the English-speaking market, but also show the world what M-pop is. Lay also gave his take on his favorite parts from filming the music video for “NAMANANA.”

Furthermore, Lay shared his thoughts about his happiness and inspiration. Lay explained that his happiness comes from his music and fans, saying,”If my fans or people will like my music — this is amazing.” Lay talked about his desire to continue his dreams in music, and his self-motivation strategy, which is to talk to himself! He revealed he would tell himself, “Don’t be lazy,” to not disappoint his fans, showing how he always has his passion and fans in mind. Lay showed his desire to work even harder by talking about how he also wanted to improve his English, despite being a fluent speaker already.

On a more fun note, Lay was also asked to share some of his favorite songs and his top three Pokémon picks, which were Cranidos, Kyogre, and Pikachu. Furthermore, he compared himself to the Dragon Ball character, Goku, because he’s just as hardworking and talented.
