Naver Music To End Service In December 2019 And Merge With AI Music Platform Vibe
Naver Music is making a big change to fit with growing trends.
Naver made an announcement on December 4 that it will end its Naver Music service in December 2019 to integrate music services with the artificial intelligence (AI) music recommendation application Vibe. Accordingly, Naver Music passes will no longer be available for purchase starting in January 2019. Also, Naver Music and Vibe cannot be used with one account at the same time starting in April 2019.
Vibe, which started its service in June, recommends songs that users might like by considering individual tastes, context, and the characteristics of individual songs. It is characterized by the constant creation of “customized playlists.” A source from Naver stated, “We decided to make changes to our service to respond to transformations in the way people listen to music, which have come about with the increased used of AI speakers.”
Naver will be launching a web version of Vibe in February, and later on all music content will be provided via Vibe.
