EXO's D.O. Shares Thoughts On His Rising Popularity + His Parents' Reaction

EXO’s D.O. recently talked about his parents’ reaction to his popularity.

On December 10, the EXO member sat down for an interview for his upcoming film “Swing Kids.” During the interview, he spoke about his growing popularity, saying, “I experienced it after completing ‘100 Days My Prince.’ But it’s not something that I would feel while walking in the streets. I had a schedule, and I had no time to walk around. Usually if there are people who ask for my autograph, I just write their names. But lately there’s been a lot of older women [who have asked].”

He continued, “These days [when I sign], I ask people about their age. There are people who are 45 and people over 50, so I felt [the popularity] in that aspect. I realized that I can’t write down just their names anymore, so I add in “eomoni.” In that sense, it’s changed a lot. I get the sense that even older women know who I am.” (While the word eomoni means “mother,” it can also be used to respectfully address older women.)

When asked about his parents’ reaction, he shared, “My parents are very proud. Recently they attended the VIP premiere and they liked it so much that they cried. They enjoyed it so much. [That day] I thought to myself that I just want to continue being a son that my parents can be proud of. I went home yesterday, and while they don’t usually attend get-togethers, they told me they went out to a couple because it’s the end of the year. Every time, they say they hear conversations about ‘100 Days My Prince’ and that they always feel proud of their son whenever they hear those things.”

D.O.’s new film “Swing Kids” is set to premiere on December 19.
