DJ Maximite Receives Fine For Assaulting Girlfriend

DJ Maximite, who got a suspended sentence in prison for drug charges, was sentenced at his first trial for causing bodily harm to his girlfriend.

On December 12, Judge Jo Ah Ra of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced DJ Maximite to a fine of 3 million won (approximately $2,666) for suspicion of injury.

28-year-old DJ Maximite is charged with a series of assaults towards his girlfriend “A.” On September 6, 2017, he became angry during an argument and grabbed her by the hair, shook her, and poured a liter of water on her head.

Because of this, “A” received injuries that took two weeks to recover from. DJ Maximite has denied parts of the charges.

The court stated, “The charges can be acknowledged when you look at the contents of the victim’s statement, contents of the diagnosis, and photos of the injuries. The details of the incident claimed by the defendant and reason for examination of the offense is not enough to deny the intention of bodily harm.”

They added, “The causal relationship between the defendant’s actions and the victim’s injury can also be acknowledged seeing what led to the victim falling.”

On December 6, DJ Maximite received a sentence of 2 years and 6 months in prison which is suspended for three years at his first trial for drug charges. This means that  DJ Maximimite will be under probation for three years, and will have to serve 2 years and 6 months in prison if he violates the condition of the suspension during those two years.

In October 2016, he purchased five sheets of LSD. He was indicted the following month for using two sheets at his home in Gangnam District.

DJ Maximite is known for co-composing the “Produce 101 Season 1” theme song “Pick Me.”
