CJ ENM Becomes Warner Brothers’ Exclusive Licensing Agent In Korea And Reveals Upcoming Releases
CJ ENM has been chosen as the exclusive agent for the licensing of Hollywood film studio Warner Brothers in Korea.
On December 12, CJ ENM said, “As the only domestic licensing agent of Warner Brothers, we plan to use pre-existing and new intellectual property to release collaboration products, sell consumer-linked products, release various products, and carry out marketing activities.”
As Warner Brothers’ licensing agent, CJ ENM will be in charge of the licensing negotiations and contracts for classic animations including “Looney Tunes,” “Tom & Jerry,” and “Scooby Doo,” as well as its subsidiary DC Entertainment’s “Batman,” “Superman,” “Wonder Woman,” “Justice League,” “Harry Potter,” and “Fantastic Beasts.”
“Harry Potter” and “Fantastic Beasts” products will be released at the end of this year and a new licensing product for the DC franchise will be released in the first quarter of 2019 including various products for fashion, household items, kids, and “kidults.”
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the creation of “Batman,” “Aquaman,” “Shazam!” and “Wonder Woman” in 2019, various promotions are being planned using DC Comics’ new film image, design, and videos.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” which premiered in November and is based on J.K. Rowling’s books, is linked to the author’s previous works “Harry Potter.” CJ ENM is planning to roll out various marketing projects using the design, logo, and images ahead of the release of licensed products at the end of this year.
Warner Brothers’ Managing Director of Asia Bianca Lee said, “We have high expectations for this partnership with CJ ENM. I think it will be a good experience for Warner Brothers’ world-class products to reach Korean consumers with CJ ENM’s strong network and experience in various content collaborations.”
After being selected as Warner Brothers’ Korean agent in October, CJ ENM held the “2018 Warner Brothers Licensing Business Information Session” to introduce Warner Brothers’ main brands and present its overall business plan on licensing products.
CJ ENM Animation Business Department’s Director of Content Business Park Hyun Il said, “I’m looking forward to the big synergy effect of CJ ENM working with powerful global brand Warner Brothers and their domestic licensing. CJ ENM will utilize its domestic licensing know-how and Warner Brothers’ outstanding IP to launch various licensing products to expand the domestic licensing market.”
